I’m back…

Well, for the first time since June 25th, I woke up in my own bed, without a mosquito net I may add.  It felt great.  I stayed up until midnight…which probably was a little late, but I wanted to do my best to beat the jet lag as much as possible from my return flight.  […]

Final Days in East Africa

Well, today we make the long flight home back to the US of A.  It’s time, perhaps slightly over time, but regardless it’s still been a very enjoyable trip.  Parts of it were very difficult, such as finding out my second day here that my dad had to have an emergency open heart surgery, getting […]

Safari Lucas…Kenya Trip Continues!

Today was Safari day, and a safari it was….animals galore!  Crocs, Giraffes, Monkeys, Baboons, cape water buffalo, gazelle, you name it we saw it (except for the lion and hippos….they seemed to evade us….sneaky suckers!)  Here is a brief sampling from some of the photos of the day….

The Use of Symbolism in the Bible

It is perhaps undeniable that symbolism is used throughout the scriptures.  The psalmists paint vivid word pictures as they describe God’s unchanging nature and his mighty works, Paul uses countless analogies to portray the contrast of law and grace, and even Jesus himself uses parables and symbols to share the wonders of the kingdom of […]

A Birmingham Reunion

I met one of my best friends from high school yesterday in Birmingham, AL.  It was the first time I had seen Jim Whitehead in probably 9 years.  We both agreed that it was almost surreal seeing each other….this the guy that I spent endless days wading in Christiana Creek in Michigan fly-fishing looking for […]

Alabama Continued…. Above are a few pictures from yesterday from my time with Dave Sumrall.  We met for breakfast at Cracker Barrel and got to catch up with all that’s happen over the last few months.  (I think it’s been since October since I’ve seen him.)  As usual, I ordered way too much food, and […]

The Land of Upgrades…

Well, here I arrived earlier today in Huntsville, AL expecting to find the hot southern weather I’ve been bragging about for the last few weeks.  It was 32 degrees when I landed…I’m not quite sure what this cold front is all about, but I’m determined to make the best of it.  I’m here to meet […]

Vantage Point

Krissy and I had a date night this evening and grabbed some dinner at Star of India…nothing like vegetable thali…and then we saw Vantage Point at Movies 14.  Great flick.  Suspenseful and intense, but not too much.  I really enjoyed it.  It keeps you guessing.  Definitely check it out.

White Castle Run: Chicken Rings and Fish Nibblers.

That’s right, we did it.  Last night, on the way back from our Oasis Indianapolis church plant meeting, Krissy, Becky Gritton, Andrea Walters, John Eicher Jr (aka Houlihan John), and myself made a spontanteous stop at White Castle in Kokomo.  While driving by the restuarant Becky, John, and Andrea all commented that they had never […]
