Candace Cameron Bure gives some Big-Sister advice in her new book, “Staying Stylish” – Guest Post from Eleni Schuurman

There is something amazing about curling up on the couch and watching a family-friendly sitcom. You always feel so good after! They inspire me to be that kind and generous person always I strive to be, and motivate me to want to get along with everyone in my path. I know that sounds a little dramatic, but that’s the only way I feel I can adequately express how much I love those feel-good comedies! Needles to say, I thoroughly enjoy watching both “Full House” and “Fuller House” on Netflix.

I love DJ Tanner’s character in both series as well. She is grounded, witty, beautiful, caring and a fantastic older sister/mother. It is so refreshing to know that the woman playing our beloved tv character is just as amazing, if not even more amazing in real life. Candace Cameron Bure is truly an inspiration and seen as a “tv-best friend” or an “older-sister” to a lot of fans. She told Lucas Miles in a recent interview how a lot of people come to her for fashion and beauty advice, so she decided to compile her knowledge in a book.

Candace’s new literary project, Staying Stylish: Cultivating a Confident Look, Style & Attitude is a gold-mine of wisdom from our tv big-sister. It is filled with beauty advice from the inside-out. Please don’t disregard this book as a glorified fashion magazine. In addition to providing fashion tips, Candace really unpacks the notion that your outer appearance should reflect who you are on the inside, and is very holistic in her approach. For all the women out there wanting some big-sister advice from Candace, you should get a copy of her new book.

Not only does Candace always have an amazing wardrobe, regardless of how dressed-up or dressed down the occasion is, her external appearance truly reflects who she is internally. Similar to how DJ Tanner was never afraid to speak her mind, Candace has never been afraid to be open about her faith. She was telling Lucas how people laughed at her for wanting to get back into the acting business while being open about her faith in Christ. She said coming out as a Christian typically is not the best strategy when trying to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. But lo and behold – God honored her transparency. After taking ten years off to raise a family, God opened doors for her to star in numerous films on the Hallmark Channel, start her own production company called iCandy, co-host The View, and appear on Dancing with the Stars…the list just goes on and on!

I would love to point out how brave Candace is about being open about her faith. It is so easy to be a chameleon and retreat from taking a stand and default into a pattern of doing and saying whatever you need to in order to “please man” and/or get ahead in your career. Being truthful about who you are takes courage, confidence and a lot of faith. I suppose this is why Candace looks so great all the time! Her heart really shines through to her external appearance.

Candace also says that she does not want fans putting on a pedestal, and that she is just like the rest of us – a sinful human being. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to be a Christian Celebrity in today’s world. I am sure they are watched like a hawk by critics just waiting to bring them down with some sort of fabricated scandal. (What a terrifying thought!) Candace tells Lucas that she hopes she doesn’t disappoint her fans too much. At this rate, I don’t think it’s possible for Candace to be a disappointment! She has been blessed with an incredible platform and has a great deal of influence. We are so lucky to have her as a role-model. I am so thankful that she has a passion for family-friendly television as well. In the future, I would like my children to watch “Full House,” “Fuller House,” and basically every movie produced by iCandy and/or star the one and only Candace Cameron Bure
