Book Review: GALL

Awhile back I mentioned several books I was reading, such as Gall, Illuminated, a couple by Dr. James Richards, etc.  Well, I’ve got good news.  The stack is dwindling; that is if you don’t take into account the new ones I’ve added to it, like Destined to Reign by the Singaporean pastor Joseph Prince (check him out on YouTube) or Escaping From Codependency by Dr. J. Richards, etc.  But at any rate, Gall has been completed and checked off the list. Here’s what I thought.

Gall was really an enjoyable read.  Pete Gall’s honesty was probably the thing that stood out to me the most.  Few believers seem to be able to expose themselves to the depth that he was willing to do.  For those approaching the book for an inspirational Christian story, won’t find it here.  But for those interested in a highly thought provoking, honest to the point of making the reader uncomfortable, entertaining story of a five year snapshot of one believers life – Gall is a must!  Be warned, it isn’t for the easily offended or the religious.  It was simply a great relaxation piece for me.  I read most of it in the bathtub while eating a bowl of cereal.  Yeah, I eat in the bath, what about it?

My wife, Krissy is almost finished with Destined to Reign…she is loving it. I’ve read the first couple chapters, but haven’ really committed to reading it until she’s done. What I’ve read has been awesome. Prince has such an awesome way of bringing out the message of Jesus through Old Testament passages…great teacher!
